Impulsiveness

If noone is going to love me Im going to love myself. Didnt I say that? taking care of yourself is loving yourself. Just like you dont let your child give into their impulses you have to do the same for yourself, out of love, not out of guilt or morality. Lately I’ve been giving into impulses more readily. I have to chill on that.

Status Symbols, Symbols of trust?

Status is another shortcut we use to organize the world around us. We use status symbols on somebody to determine whether they are trustworthy or not. Because if he has made enough money to buy himself some nice clothes, has a nice car that mean somebody else has trusted in him enough to give him the large amounts of money required to acquire these status symbols. Status symbols are more like symbols of trust, your letting the world know you know what the hell you are doing, that your not ful of shit. Preselection, we let other people do the judging for us so we dont have to take the time and risk to find out whether this person is trustworthy. Of course these status symbols can fool us, the guy could have stolen them, they guy could have rich parents, the guy could be a drug dealer, etc. But in our urban world where we see hundreds of new faces everyday, we dont have time for deep analysis, we need to make quick decisions just so we can get on with our busy lives.

Its part of who are and to deny it is liberal hypocrisy

We will never get rid of prejudice (racism as well) because our minds use assumptions as shortcuts to organize our world quickly. Its in our best interest survival wise to asses possible threats as quickly as possible. If I were to meet you in on a deserted road in the middle of nowhere I would need to make very quick judgements on the potential threats you pose to me. So I compare you to past experiences and any prior knowledge you are similar too in order to quickly decide to fight flight or bond with you. Instead of asking you directly what your intentions are, I make shortcuts and choose to err on the side of safety. In today’s urban society were in a similar situation, there are so many of us that we dont have time to treat everybody as an individual and then decide whether to avoid or connect with you. If not our minds would be filled with minute details on every person we would meet, there wouldn't be time to go about our lives. So dont despair about prejudice, just be aware of prejudices for what they are and know that they are assumptions that could easily be wrong. Be open to anything.

Police

Hire the ever angry middle to class to keep the lower classes in check. We’re all in the same race and the rich have always used the less poor to control the rest. They distract he middle class with the the ever dangling carrot of the American Dream.

Tea Party Cylist

I think the learning curve should be steep. I dont think that we should let the government promote or regulate cycling at all. I dont think my grandmother should be riding in traffic, sure thats fine for amsterdam, but this is NYC. People are here to make money, the only people enjoying the view are the tourists.

Lets do that ourselves by helping newbies ride in traffic, the learning curve to ride effectively in traffic is huge. I think its irresponsible for the government to encourage people who have no sense of the flow of traffic to just go out there and bike to work. They ride slow, they get hooked all the time, they dont know how to shift in and out of the shoulder to avoid obstacles, and yes they run redlights halfassed.

I respect the flow of traffic, I ride with it. Crittical mass riding just arrogantly shits on the flow of traffic to parade themselves. The roads are from getting to point a to point b, not to show the world who you are. Well, ok you can express yourself but your there to move.

I think the best diet that one can follow is to simply cut down the portions depening on how much weight you want to lose. You eat everything you would normally eat but you make less and get used to it being a normal portion. The trick is to actually make and serve less as opposed to making alot and rationing yourself....its going to be hard for you not to eat the whole serving you made.
